Christmas by the River’11 (10 Dec’11)
An unforgettable Christmas! 10 December saw the Deaf community came dressed in blue and white for Christmas by the River, onboard a restaurant in a ship. More than 100 Deaf and their families gathered for a great time of bonding and fun filled with entertaining performances by our Deaf volunteers, mass dance, thrilling games, lucky draws and chat over hi-tea. The Deaf even got the opportunity to walk around the four level Riverboat for phototaking.

TOUCH Flag Day (5 Nov’11)

40 volunteers including clients gathered on this special day with a heart of compassion to walk the streets to raise funds for the needy and disadvantaged served by TOUCH Community Services.Deaf and hearing participants warmed up through bonding activities and a meal of nasi lemak before they hit the streets in pairs to sell flags.It was truly a learning experience for our new hearing volunteers to learn that building friendship goes beyond the usual mode of communication through speech. New friendship with the Deaf were built and the Deaf learned that they too can contribute their part in helping other beneficiaries in TOUCH. A special thanks to all for the hard work!

COURSES

 

SIGN LANGUAGE COURSE
TOUCH Silent Club's foundational sign language course, known as Sign Language for Everyone, is organised with beginners in mind. Participants learn the basics of sign language as signed locally. Generic and modular sign language courses are held regularly to raise the awareness level of the public about the Deaf and their needs and to promote integration.

Our job is to help you to find a job.
Believing that every Deaf deserves the opportunity to maximise his/her potential and lead a life of dignity within society, Silent Club has a comprehensive service to assist Deaf secure jobs. We source and develop a pool of prospective employers and place the deaf with these organisations accordingly. We provide follow-up service. Our staff accompany and interpret for the Deaf at job interviews.
